Grey geese are the ancestors of the birds which today live on farms as domestic geese. They grow to a height of 90 cm, have a wingspan of 147 to 180 cm and weigh from 2.5 to 4 kg. Grey geese stay with their partners for life and can live for as long as 17 years. Each year they migrate from the north of Europe to the south where they overwinter. On their long journey southwards they fly in the well-known V formation.
