Lynx (Lynx lynx)
Listening with ears tipped in black, lynxes are on the prowl.
The paws of some lynx can be bigger than human hands.
- Conservation Status: Least Concern (LC)
- Global Home:
Generally solitary, lynx live dens in areas of high altitude. Staying with their mother through the winter, kittens are given their dinner only if they can kill it. Eating deer, hares, fish, fox, sheep, squirrels and fowl, lynxes have to hunt together sometimes. Since they are also good swimmers, they can even catch their own fish. Active at night, lynxes make good use of their keen hearing and eyesight. Known for their beautiful fur, lynxes have colorful coats that keep them warm in the winter.
