Why does Brexit affect me?

As of 1.January 2021 all goods sent to the UK are affected by the Brexit and must therefore be cleared through customs. The purchase and shipment of the goods takes place in the name of Schleich GmbH, which is based in Germany.

Are orders still possible?

You can still place orders in our online shop. Due to Brexit and the resulting customs clearance of goods the delivery times may be longer.

Do I have to pay customs duties?

Unfortunately, all shipments over £135 are subject to customs duties.
When receiving goods from abroad, recipients may have to pay VAT and duties. The VAT and duties will be applied depending on the type and value of the goods. For goods over £135, Royal Mail may collect the VAT and customs duties on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) from the recipient prior to delivery.

What are the shipping costs?

Delivery costs depend on the order value:
Order value over GBP50: free delivery
Order value under GBP50: GBP8.95
Orders will be dispatched securely by our logistics partner DHL International / Parcelforce.

What are the delivery times?

Due to Brexit and the resulting customs clearance of goods the delivery times may be longer. Unless stated otherwise for particular products, the delivery time is 3 to 10 working days (taking German public holidays into account) from the date the purchase agreement is concluded.

How can I return goods to Schleich

You can request and print your return label and customs declaration here.


  • Stick the return label on the parcel.
  • The completed customs declaration form (CN23) and a copy of the original invoice must be attached to the package in a transparent envelope.
  • Include the return form with the package.

    The deadline for returning your items is 14 days from receipt.

    What are the costs for shipping?

    The shipping costs are calculated based on the value of your order and the country you want your order to be shipped to. More detailed information can be found on our page about shipping and payment.

    How can I modify or cancel an order?

    If you want to change your order, you may only do so as long as you have not yet received the order confirmation e-mail. To change your order, please contact our online shop Customer Service by phone. Cancellation: If you want to cancel your order, this is only possible as long as you have not yet received the e-mail with confirmation of purchase and shipping, because otherwise the order has already been handed over to the shipping company. In this case, please refuse to accept the package or return the package. Otherwise, please cancel your order by calling our online shop Customer Service.

    Why can’t I order on account?

    We offer a “purchase on account” option on orders up to €200 in value. However, this requires a positive credit check. This check is performed automatically during the ordering process. Alternatively, you can pay by credit card, PayPal or direct debit.

    Where can I buy Schleich products?

    The popular play figures and play sets from Schleich are sold in more than 50 countries. You can quickly and easily find out which toy dealers in your area sell Schleich products by using our retailer search. In addition, you can also buy our products conveniently in our online shop.

    Is there a factory outlet at the Schleich premises?

    There is no factory outlet at our site in Schwäbisch Gmünd. However, our entire range can be found in our online shop.

    Schleich® Products

    What does the coloured dot on the Schleich tag mean?

    The Schleich play figures are divided into various price categories. Each category has its own coloured dot (green, blue, red, yellow, grey or brown), which is applied to the figure’s tag. Figures in the same colour group have the same price.

    What material are the products made of?

    Schleich products are made of various plastics and dyes, which are carefully selected to meet the respective requirements. Some of the most important plastics we use are polyvinyl chloride (PVC), thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), in addition to other plastics typical for toys. Even the material suppliers are subject to strict controls by our quality officers. The dyes used are optimally adapted to the different types of plastic and demonstrate top-rate mechanical and chemical resistance. They ensure the high durability of Schleich products and make all of our pieces saliva- and sweat-proof as well as abrasion-resistant, and thus ensure that they are completely safe for playing with. Only once a product meets all laws, standards and guidelines is it released for production.

    How do I recognize a Schleich figure?

    Each Schleich figure bears a Schleich engraving at a as inconspicuous as possible of a location so as not to compromise its value as a toy. This engraving shows our company name with its headquarters, the country of manufacture and the CE mark. This way, it can be clearly recognised in which country and year each figure has been manufactured. The most prominent distinguishing feature is the famous Schleich tag on the individual figures.

    Where are Schleich products produced?

    The Schleich group produces in Germany, Romania, Moldova, Tunisia and China. All of our articles and materials comply with the national and international toy requirements applicable worldwide, as well as the new European Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC and DIN EN 71. This means that the ingredients and the production process are identical in all locations, so that the quality of the Schleich products is the same everywhere – no matter where they are produced. As part of Schleich’s high quality demands, each of the production sites is subject to regular and strict quality controls and checks. In addition, the Schleich group requires, among other things, a certification according to the ICTI CARE process from all partner companies. The ICTI CARE process is an initiative by the International Council of Toy Industries aiming for global compliance with certain codes of conduct. Among other things, it regulates the legal working hours, payment of the statutory minimum wages and the prohibition of child and forced labour. Quality and product safety.

    How is a Schleich figure created - from the idea to the figure?

    It takes an average of three to four months from the design of a model up to the finished Schleich figure. The popular hand-painted Schleich play figures are created through many different steps, involving great passion for detail and top-rate quality standards, and are unique in their trueness to nature, brought to life in children’s rooms across the world. The ideas for the various products are conceived in house. Each new figure takes shape for the first time in Schleich’s Product Design department. Based on drawings, photographs or templates from specialist books, the designer toils away to create a single-coloured wax model of artistic craftsmanship which already exhibits all details of the final product. Depending on the complexity of the figure, it takes two to eight weeks of work before the wax figure satisfies the critical eye of its creator. For example, on the body of a horse model each individual hair is applied one by one. The finished artwork finally goes to the marketing department for its appearance to be approved, to quality assurance for technical and structural testing and to the mould- and tool-making department. The resulting wax model is the precursor for creating the actual mould in the tool-making department. There are currently around 600 of these precious injection moulds made from a mixture of zinc, aluminium, magnesium and copper – and each one represents another play figure from the extensive Schleich product family. Each figure has its own base colour whose recipe is developed in house from various pigment blends of the PVC base material with different degrees of hardness. All production materials are chemically tested beforehand. The plastic granulates are heated up to the melting point and injected into the tool in liquid state using a nozzle. After machine production, the blanks need approximately half an hour to completely harden depending on their size. Larger figures are immersed in a cool water bath, while for smaller ones temporary storage on cooling plates is sufficient. Each individual figure is hand-painted. The only exceptions are large-area patterns, such as the brown spot pattern of a giraffe figure, which are applied using the pad-printing procedure. Only then do the finished figures receive the familiar Schleich tag with the red “S” on it and they are then ready for shipping.

    How long is the warranty valid for replacement of broken Schleich products?

    We provide replacement of all broken Schleich products for up to two years after they are no longer available in the catalogue. To find out if your item is still under warranty, please do not hesitate to contact Customer Service Team.

    Can I buy spare parts from Schleich?

    Currently, we do not offer the option to purchase spare parts for Schleich play sets. Feel free to get in touch with our Customer Service, who may be able to help you.

    Do Schleich products float?

    Our products are made from various materials which must meet different requirements. Toys meant for extended play sessions in bath water or outdoor areas are subject to other regulations than conventional toys like ours. The Schleich play figures and sets are not designed for this – but the full answer to your question depends on many factors (such as the duration, temperature and not least the water additives or weather influences), which we cannot completely assess remotely.

    What do I do if a Schleich product is broken?

    We provide replacement of all broken Schleich products for up to two years after they are no longer available in the catalogue. To find out if your item is still under warranty, please do not hesitate to contact Customer Service Team.

    Why does Schleich collaborate with the WWF?

    The Schleich Group and the WWF have been cooperation partners since January 2016. Through this collaboration, Schleich would like to actively support the protection of endangered species. The traditional Swabian company has been supporting the WWF’s work in Germany and Austria in protecting biodiversity for at least five years. While Schleich brings endangered species like elephants, rhinoceroses, lions and other species into children’s rooms, and wishes to cultivate enthusiasm for animals and nature in doing so, the WWF works to protect these animals through various projects the world over.
